Have you ever get email from your Bank and They set in the email as “URGENT” and ask you to update your details by following the link on the email?
IF you answer “yes” then…..
what did you do? do you click the link on Email?
If Your answer “yes” then you are in deep TROUBLE. Why? because you have been phish [ phishing is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details (source: wikipedia) ] by a phisher, and they can access your online Net banking and transfer it into THEIR account and you LOST you money. Be Smart…. Google have wrote how to keep save online here and below are the excerpt:
- Be careful about responding to emails that ask you for sensitive information. alway treat your identity as a secret when you online.
- Go to the site yourself, rather than clicking on links in suspicious emails. NEVER follow the link from the email, always login by typing the web address yourself into browser
- If you’re on a site that’s asking you to enter sensitive information, check for signs of anything suspicious. Most Newbie never know which one is suspicious, so heres what you need to take a look, the web address before .com or .net make sure they are the same as it should be, like ANZ bank will have link like anz.com not 123anz.com
- Be wary of the “fabulous offers” and “fantastic prizes” that you’ll sometimes come across on the web. Why would people gave you a prize when you never enter any single competition / survey or anything.
- Use a browser that has a phishing filter. this would be the easiest one to implement, now IE, Firefox and opera have a phishing filter.
So thats about it, don’t forget to tell your friend and family about this, because maybe they have potential to be come a phishing victim.

I remember during my time on uni, that I have to change my password every 3 months and It can’t be the same from previous two ( oh yea they also have the rule for the password, it have to be 8 or more character, contain at least 1 number and one capital letter), its really annoying me back then until I come up with this trick how to make a strong password and easy to remember (thats the point :P) I dun want to go to student services just to reset my password…. hehhehe
- Choose 2 two words phrase that have a meaning or something that you can easily remember such as “Motivational Stuff” or if you like The simpson you can come up with “Stupid Homer“
- Choose the date that you will remember (Don’t use your birth date) like the day when I graduate 16/08
- Interlace the date with your word choice: S1t6u0p8idHomer
- Specified for each account or site you use by inserting 2 first letters of that service name, such as for my uni QUT just add qu in front of your password like : quS1t6u0p8idHomer
Now you can easily change your password every 3 months with any account or website.
If this method is to hassle for you, then I suggest to use roboform, what you only need to do is to remember 1 master password and roboform generate it for you and for more easy you can use number 4 tips above for each site or account you use.

Don’t Click Links on Email if asking about your Details.
There are so many people still doing this…. whether they scared that their account is closed by Bank or any other constitution. For your own good PLEASE DON’t Click it.
Bad People send out millions of these fraudulent e-mails to random e-mail addresses in the hope of luring unsuspecting innocent persons into providing their personal banking details. This is referred to as “phishing”.
Often these e-mails will contain a link to a bogus website, which can look very similar to your regular bank’s website.
Clicking on the link will often also enable hidden programs that may monitor your internet banking. Thats why up to date AntiVirus and Firewall is must when you go online.
Some of these e-mails and bogus websites can seem extremely convincing, hence their effectiveness for criminals.
Your bank will never send you an e-mail asking you to enter your online banking details.
You should immediately delete any such e-mails.
Never click on the links provided in these e-mails or submit your online banking details under these circumstances.
It is important to make other people aware of these “phishing” e-mails and encourage them never to respond to these types of requests for personal details.
