Here’s the exact email from Sara:

“Thank you Jimmy!

Because of the economy slowdown, the company I worked for in Florida closed it’s doors at the beginning of this year and my husband and I decided to relocate to Dallas Texas.

Because I am new to this area and have zero contacts I needed something that made me standout. I feel that the “Secret Career Document” gave me the edge that I needed to standout. I just can’t tell you enough what it did to my confidence, I knew that I had something that none of the other candidates had and it was an incredible feeling.

Both VPs that were interviewing me took the time to read the “Secret Career Document” and the interview took on a life of it’s own. They were jumping off their seats and so was I. The energy in the room was unreal and our interview lasted almost 2 hours! I still get butterflies in my stomach every time I think about it.

— end of Sara’s email —

I feel compelled to share them with you on occassion to let you know what’s possible in YOUR job search no matter how tough the job market may seem to be.

How To Prepare Document for Your Work/Job Interview?

Interview tips
You know the importance of dressing professionally for an interview and showing up on time ready to discuss the job you’re eager to fill. However, it’s equally important to come prepared with essential documents that many employers will ask to see.

1. Your social security card, necessary to secure employment and payment once you’re hired.

2. Your current state-issued driver’s license or a government-issued identification card to show that you are who you say you are.

3. Your resume of past work experience, typed and printed out on standard white paper. Some job seekers believe they will make an ‘impression’ if they choose colored paper or sheets with decorative imprints. You will stand out–but for all the wrong reasons. Furnish the interviewer with information about your education, training, and former employment. Include only those details that apply to the work you wish to do. This is not the place to mention your teenage job as a baby-sitter or newspaper carrier.

4. A completed job application with all pertinent information filled in correctly, clearly, and legibly. Don’t make the hiring manager ‘work’ to read your handwriting or printing.

5. References. Typically, an employer likes to see three good references from former employers, long-time personal friends, or others who know you well and can speak to your character and work ethics. Be sure to ask their permission ahead of time. Avoid using relatives.

6. Transcripts. Some employers may require an official copy of your transcript of educational credits, course work, degrees awarded, post-secondary classes, as well as any professional acknowledgment you received such as an honorary degree or certification in a particular field.

Step up to the opportunity of a lifetime — the interview you’ve worked so hard to land. Then cinch the deal by arriving on time, dressed appropriately, and equipped with these six items. You will be received and welcomed as the professional candidate you are. Then wait for those three words you’re eager to hear…

“WOW, You’re Hired!”

Simple And Effective Tips Before You Apply and Interview For Jobs

 jobsh2.jpg

I just got a newsletter from Jimmy Sweeney From Job Interview Secret and Amazing Cover Letter. Well I have to admit, after reading the article below I found myself saying, “I’ve never really thought about that before, what terrific advice!” Read the article below;

Careless Words Cost Jobs”
© Elizabeth Best - The New Managers Club

Often people do all the appropriate work to land an interview - the research, the great attention-grabbing cover letter and resume but then they risk failure by lack of thought.

Careless words can lose you the job.

Before you send off any applications. When you’re considering applying for jobs and before you contact any recruitment consultants, consider both your e-mail address and your voice mail message.

What do they say about you? I have been very put off and sometimes I’ve not actually contacted an applicant because of their e-mail address and/or voice mail message or even the voice I heard on the voice mail when I called to ask them for interview. If it’s a cute or fun e-mail address or voice mail message or if the message is in Mickey Mouse’s voice - beware. One time I heard.

“Hi, we’re either having a party and can’t hear the phone or we can’t be bothered answering right now so just leave us a message.”

I didn’t leave a message and I crossed them off the list. Also an e-mail address such as “lazydave@hotmail” doesn’t give the right message either. It’s worth setting up a new e-mail address which is exclusively for your job search. Keep it simple and “gimmick-free“.

Setting Yourself Apart After the Interview By: Jon Cappadona 2007

Why send an E-mail, when you can send a ME-mail?

Let me start by setting up the scene. Your interview went fantastic! The research you did on the company was well worth the time and effort. All questions were answered properly and with confidence. The clothes you were wearing looked great. In your heart, you know you “nailed” this interview. Now, it’s time to shake hands and trade the obligatory “thanks you” and “I look forwards”. he parting statement from your interviewer went something like this. “It was a pleasure meeting you. I have several more candidates to interview before we can make a decision. I will be in touch as soon as possible to let you know”. As you walk away you find yourself going over that last statement. He said “it was a pleasure meeting you.” It sure must have been because you know you nailed that interview!

But wait.
What else did he say? Did he say he has “several more interviews”!
Could it be? Oh no, competition! Insecurity starts to creep in.

Why they can’t land the job they SAY they want so badly

I got this newsletter from Jimmy Sweeney The Author of Amazing Cover Letter it was interesting and motivated for those of you who are seeking a job NOW!, enjoy this reading as Jimmy Permit this to be shared.

I hear so many excuses from job-seekers telling me *why*
they “can’t” land the job they SAY they want so badly.

“I’m too old”
“I’m too young”
“I’m not experienced enough”
“I’m over qualified”
“I’m too fat”
“I’m too skinny”

Enough already! Excuses are like noses, we all have one and they all smell. ;o)

The following story is from an amazing cover letters customer of mine who landed another job interview and finally turned her negative (”I’m too old”) into a positive.

When I read her first email, she was so sincere and sweet that I couldn’t resist helping her out.

We can all learn from Bernadette’s story… Read More…

THE biggest mistake the vast majority of job seekers make when actively seeking employment

(Drum roll please…)

“NOT FOLLOWING UP!”

Another way of saying it…

“FOLLOW UP EVERYTHING!”

Look, it’s simple math. When you follow up every lead,
contact, and job opportunity you are mathematically
DOUBLING your chances of getting called for the job
interview and ultimately landing the job.

Send a follow up cover letter and resume every time. Use
“snail mail,” email, pick up the telephone and make a
phone call, do whatever you gotta do to get YOUR foot
in the company door. Get creative and follow up.

Nothing happens until YOUR phone rings for the job
interview. Nothing.

==========================

Don’t worry about offending someone with your persistence.
If that happens, chances are you wouldn’t want to work
there anyway. Just move on with a smile and say, “next.”

Remember, the best resume doesn’t usually win the job.

Persistence, passion and follow up are much more
important.

Employers love and hire those who want it the most.
