How to Avoid Phishing

Have you ever get email from your Bank and They set in the email as “URGENT” and ask you to update your details by following the link on the email?

IF you answer “yes” then…..

what did you do? do you click the link on Email?

If Your answer “yes” then you are in deep TROUBLE. Why? because you have been phish [ phishing is an attempt to criminally and fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details (source: wikipedia) ] by a phisher, and they can access your online Net banking and transfer it into THEIR account and you LOST you money. Be Smart…. Google have wrote how to keep save online here and below are the excerpt:

  1. Be careful about responding to emails that ask you for sensitive information. alway treat your identity as a secret when you online.
  2. Go to the site yourself, rather than clicking on links in suspicious emails. NEVER follow the link from the email, always login by typing the web address yourself into browser
  3. If you’re on a site that’s asking you to enter sensitive information, check for signs of anything suspicious. Most Newbie never know which one is suspicious, so heres what you need to take a look, the web address before .com or .net make sure they are the same as it should be, like ANZ bank will have link like anz.com not 123anz.com

  4. Be wary of the “fabulous offers” and “fantastic prizes” that you’ll sometimes come across on the web. Why would people gave you a prize when you never enter any single competition / survey or anything.
  5. Use a browser that has a phishing filter. this would be the easiest one to implement, now IE, Firefox and opera have a phishing filter.

So thats about it, don’t forget to tell your friend and family about this, because maybe they have potential to be come a phishing victim.

Using a browser with phishing detectiong is a must now. Some people type the webpage wrong too could result to phishing. They identify those typo errors and just wait for you to put your infos. Like yahoo could be yahooo. So don’t think you’re entirely safe.
